    Small Walkout House Plans

Daylight and walkout home designs fully utilize the partially ‘in grade’ lower level.

Description: This series assumes a moderately sloping site that encourages a daylight or walkout basement. There is an inherent efficiency using a foundation system (required regardless) to incorporate viable living space. Clearly lower level living space has conditions and limitations, so these designs are challenged with making that lower level space useful and spatially pleasant.

Size: 3 foundation footprint sizes-formats this series from 518 sf to 588 sf. All designs have 2 levels, with designs #7, #8,#9 adding footage on a 3rd level. Total footage from 1036 sf to 1709 sf.

Style: Style is flexible, and a variety of ‘looks’ are purposefully shown. ‘Looks’ and plans can be mixed and matched.

    Series Overview

Configuration: Moderately sloped sites with a main living level above a daylight/walkout lower level level. Primary living spaces are on the main level, and bedroom/flex spaces on the lower walkout level. Some designs show the 2nd lower level bedroom as a flex space. There are 3 footprints of 518 sf, 534 sf and 588 sf. These footprints have been designed as small as deemed reasonable. All can be expanded as desired. Total finished footage for the 2 level designs basically double the footage. Designs #7,#8, add some loft space. Design#9 has a full master suite on the 3rd level (and a 2 car garage).

Site and Approach: Walkouts on sloped sites are sometimes approached from below (arriving at the lower level), and sometimes approached from above (arriving at the main level). This is a site condition. Design#1, #2 are shown with approach at the lower level. All others show arrival at the main level. All main level entrances are from side positioned porches and all can be design adjusted to be accessed from either level.

Garages: All designs have small (side positioned) entry porches that are capable of linked garages. Only design#9 includes the linked garage. Garages have not been included generally because the visual scale- and construction cost- are a little out of sync with these smaller home designs.

Mix and Match: The specific plan configurations are purposefully different each plan. The style or ‘look’ is purposefully different each design. These plans and looks can be mixed and matched when customization option is selected.
