If south facing this front wall and roof have solar potential.

Small Cabin+Loft #4

Design#4

Layout: This design is a bigger feeling layout with the living spaces being open, and with the tall front wall. This design would benefit from an increased width. Say from 32' to 34' or 36'. This is freely noted along with the fact that this is not a budget design. Because of its inherent complexity a little more space is not proportionally more costly.

Solar: There is active and passive solar potential this design if the glass wall and PV array can be south facing. The shed 'dormer' holding the PV array can be adjusted to latitude easily. The 15 panels showing are in scale. The entry shed roof can likewise be adjusted to efficiently incorporate another 4 or 6 panels.

More loft comfort: Rear shed dormer gives the loft space ceiling height and windows. The loft half wall looks to the big glass wall. 2 functions plus a conditioned storage room this loft design.
