Design follows the topographic contours. The living spaces are out and over the steep slope.

Steep Slope #1

Along a topo line: Designs #1, #2 assume a linear topo and respond with a linear design. And are simpler and smaller designs.

Pier and support: Footings and masonry piers to just above grade are conventional. Support ‘posts’ are actually short sections of 2×6 (or 2×8) wall that are sheathed and sided with a stucco application to match the parged crawl foundation. These ‘L’ shaped framed/sheathed walls have the lateral stability potential to keep the house box in place.
